Barb introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Doug Caulder of the Door Youth Centre.
Doug gave some personal background information on himself and his involvement with The Door. He explained how the organization was set up, managed and what sort of work they did. He answered questions from the members. Barb presented him with a polio certificate in thanks.
Bingo March 11: Leanne informed members that she had posted advertising flyers around town. She noted that she had extras if anyone wished to do the same. Jim reiterated the need for volunteers to help on Sunday.
Women’s Expo: Leanne noted that Rotary planned to have a display at the upcoming Women’s Expo in Fergus at the Sportsplex on Saturday March 10. She noted that she had a few volunteers but if anyone else would like to help they were cordially invited to do so.
Spring Fling Gala, May 26: Leanne stated that she had the sponsors sign-up sheet from Nicole. If any member knows of a company or business who might donate to the gala to please write down their information on this sheet. She also mentioned a letter, created by Nicole, to be used by the members when visiting the various companies and potential supporters. Copies had been left on the tables for members to use. Barb asked that for convenience, the letter be circulated in a PDF format, digitally. Leanne stated that she would look after that.
President Elect Trainin: Leanne noted that she had completed the second session on the weekend. She briefly spoke about the upcoming international Rotary conference that would be taking place in Toronto in June. She informed members that organizing committee needed volunteers in a number of areas. She encouraged everyone to attend as this was a wonderful opportunity to go to an international meeting so close to home. Mention was also made of “Every Rotarian Every Year” donation program managed by the international Rotary Foundation. She gave brief background information on this and encouraged everyone to participate by making a contribution.
